5 ‘O’ Level/SSCE credit passes at not more than two sittings to include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or other relevant science subjects.

Direct Entry
- In addition to ‘O’ Level requirements, candidates must have passed at credit level in at least two relevant science subjects at the ‘A’ Level.
- OND/NCE holders in related disciplines with credit pass may also be considered.

Academic Sector : A Microbiology graduate can earn a higher degree in any of the over twenty-five (25) areas of specialization including molecular biology and biotechnology and pick up career appointment with a tertiary institution or any of the Research Institutes within and outside the country.
Private Sector : A graduate of Microbiology with adequate post qualification training in Laboratory Medicine (Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Protozoology, Mycology and Immunology) can set up his/her diagnostic laboratory to complement hospital services.
