Urban and regional planners are also referred to as Urban planners, City planners, Town planners, with key interest in social justice, affordable housing, sustainable cities, mobility and traffic decongestion, climate, economic development and environmental sustainability.Â
Some of the key areas where planners can work are: Federal and State government Ministries of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Ministries of Transportation, Ministries of Tourism, Local Government Councils. Other areas include; Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), private Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) firms, oil companies and telecommunications companies, construction companies, academic institutions, transportation companies etc.
The professional planner may also choose to render private consultancy services such as; developing master plans, developing socio-economic impact assessment and demographic studies, preparation of feasibility reports and planning briefs, conduct transportation and traffic management studies etc.
