The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved five new undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes for Redeemer’s University. The programmes are B.Sc. in Public Administration, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Political Science, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science, respectively.

According to the letter signed on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NUC, Prof Abubakar Rasheed by the Director of Academic Planning of the apex educational regulatory agency, Dr. Noel Saliu, stated that the five approved programmes are to be run on full-time mode at the main campus with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session.

Speaking on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Anthony Akinlo, has advised all the staff to double up their efforts in a drive towards building an enduring institution. He added that the current realities call for creativity, strategic thinking, and diligence in order to bring out the best within the system to solve current challenges and mitigate threats that are facing ivory-towers due to high operating costs which tuition alone cannot solve except the university create other sources of income for its sustainability.

He reiterated the need for collective efforts through teamwork for us to be able to successfully steer the financial leadership of the university to self-sufficiency among its peers. He said that in spite of the various economic challenges, Redeemer’s University would continue to provide quality infrastructure, pay attention to staff needs and provide the enabling environment for both students and staff in order to sustain its leadership position in the Nigerian higher education institutions’ sector.
