Admission Requirements
The criteria for admission into the B.A. programme are as follows:
UTME: 4 Year Degree Programme
5 credit level passes in the SSCE/NECO/GCE (O/L) examination relevant subjects in Arts and Social Sciences including English language and Christian Religious Knowledge/Bible Knowledge with at least a pass in Mathematics.
Direct Entry: 3 Year Degree Programme
- Five credits in General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level and NECO at least two of which must be at GCE Advanced Level including Christian Religious Knowledge.
- A pass in two principal subjects at the NCE Level/ A/L plus three credits at the GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language General Paper.
- A Three – Year Diploma in Theology or its equivalent from a recognized university, Bible College or Seminary plus three credits at the GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language admits candidates into a Three – Year Degree Programme. Recognized Institutions include, Baptist Seminary, Ogbomoso; Redeemed Christian Bible College, Redemption Camp, Ogun State; The Redeemed College of Missions (RECOM), Ede; LIFE Theological Seminary, etc.
Career Prospects
Christian Religious Studies is a multi-disciplinary academic field devoted to research into Christian beliefs, behaviors, and institutions. It describes compares, interprets, and explains Christian Religion, emphasizing systematic, historical and cross-cultural perspectives.
The study is based on a thorough study of the Bible and reflects on the history of Christianity from its origin to its present state by analyzing the literature of the earliest Christian movements.
It focuses primarily on the mission of educating in the area of the nature, history, and function of Christianity. It provides students with a deeper knowledge of Christianity and presents them with the ability to understand the background to problems of the modern world and also the opportunity to find peaceful solutions through dialogue and mutual understanding.
At Redeemer’s University, we provide an avenue within the school and the community for the exploration of the historical, intellectual, social, and cultural aspects of Christianity. Our programme curriculum is designed to help students think about religion and its connections with social issues, popular culture, ethics, global affairs and philosophical questions.
Successful students should expect to emerge from the programme with a set of analytical skills, theoretical perspectives and practical methods for interpretation on this all-important feature of human experience that will prepare them to thrive in an increasingly pluralistic and global community.
A graduate of Christian Religious Studies can be a social worker, CRS Teacher in schools /Lecturer in Higher Institutions especially now that we have so many Bible colleges, seminaries and colleges of missions, a Pastor, children’s ministry director, Christian education director, religious education director, pastor, youth director, associate pastor, counselor, director of humanitarian emergency relief, Christian school principal, missions executive and mission mobiliser among others.
