Redeemer’s University Ede has emerged in third place at the 2023 National Tax Competition which was held in Abuja recently. The competition which is organised by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) saw different representatives of different tertiary institutions from all over the country vie for the top prize.

The quiz marked the closing ceremony of the 25th annual conference of the CITN, with the theme, ‘Nigeria of the Future: Achieving Sustainable Development through Taxation’. After rigorous rounds leading to the final, the representative from Redeemer’s University Ede, Mr. Anthony Babatunde Peter, a 400-level Accounting student carted home the Bronze prize, defeating colleagues from other tertiary institutions in the process.

Speaking when receiving the prizes and cheque won from the team of students, the Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr. Kenneth Okpala and the Dean, of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Bola Adeleke, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Akinlo commended Mr. Babatunde for his achievement while reiterating the place of RUN among the comity of universities in Nigeria therefore, “it is no coincidence what the student has achieved” he said.
