The Governing Council Chairman, and Pro-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Professor Toyin Ogundipe, pays a brief working visit to strategic locations on the campus during his inaugural visit to the university. The former UNILAG Vice-Chancellor was taken on the tour by Redeemer’s University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele and his management team.
During the brief familiarisation tour, the new Chairman of Council briefly inspected the state-of-the-art African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), a continental powerhouse for preventing, detecting, containing, and eliminating the world’s deadliest diseases. Just recently, the Centre, as part of its expansion programme, has successfully given birth to the Institute of Genomics and Global Health (which include African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases, International Centre of Excellence for Malaria Research, Centre for One Health and Zoonotic Diseases Research and Surveillance, Centre for Data Science and Virtual Reality; and Centre for Human Genome). The Centre has become a globally acclaimed think-tank, and knowledge development institute for training of workforce in the areas of genomics and public health.
