Redeemer's University Senate Celebrates Centennial Meeting

Very few universities can boast of 100 regular senate meetings at the age of eleven years. This was the thought that echoed continuously as the Redeemer's University, Ede, celebrated its 100th regular meeting in a grand style on Wednesday 22nd February, 2017. This meant that the Senate had sat for an average of nine times a year in the University's eleven years of existence. The celebration, which saw all members of the University's Senate doning the academic gowns of their various alma matter,  was graced  equally by undergraduate gold, silver and bronze schoolars as well as first class graduates, who are presently in the University's employment. The celebration began with a colourful procession of Senate members from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Senate Chambers. 

The highest point of the centennial celebration was the announcement of the conferment of Emeritus Professorship on two eminent members of the University's Senate, Professor L. B. Kolawole of the Department of Physical Sciences,College of Natural Sciences of the Redeemer's University and who was also a former Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology,Akure and Professor Akinjide Osuntokun of the Department of History and International Studies ,College of Humanities of the Redeemer's University, who was also a former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany.  Also receiving awards were Senate members and groups that had served the Senate meritoriously within ten years. Among such were the university's principal officers, Deans of Colleges, the Senate Business Committee members and the longest serving non-academic staff in Senate.
