Tekena Tamuno Library Staff Wins Commonwealth Fellowship Award

Mr. Akinniyi Ayobami Adeleke has won the prestigious Commonwealth Professional Fellowship Award for 2016. The Award, which is tenable at University of East London (UEL), is an intensive internship in IT services and digital education.

It  commenced on March 1 and end on May 31, 2016. The programme is sponsored by Association of Commonwealth Universities. Mr. Adeleke is a Principal Librarian at Tekena Tamuno Library, Redeemer's University, Ede. He is the current Chairman of Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Cataloguing &Classification and Indexing Section. The next round of Commonwealth Professional Fellowship shall commence on March 1, 2016.

Five Fellows were nominated by the University of East London for the Programme. I, Akinniyi A. Adeleke, is one of them. The Fellowship at UEL is an internship on ICT services. The Fellows shall be mentored by Ms. Gurdish Sandhu for 12 weeks on digital education and leadership. The programme will include visits to institutions and organizations with cognate facilities for the internship. The Fellowship is fully sponsored by the Association of Commonwealth Universitieshttps://www.acu.ac.uk/.

Fellows from Nigeria were taken through a pre-departure briefing at the British Council, Ikoyi, Lagos On Thursday, January 28, 2016 by Maria Williams. Three Commonwealth Alumni were present at the briefing to share their experiences.
