Redeemer's University on Thursday 26th January, 2016 conducted its 12th matriculation ceremony, marking the official admission of students for the 2016/2017 academic session. The ceremony, during which 364 undergraduate and postgraduate students were formally admitted into the university, was held in the University Auditorium in Ede, Osun State under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor Professor Debo Adeyewa.
While addressing the matriculating students, which he called the Daniel Generation, the Vice Chancellor said: "your generation is both superlative and supernatural, transcending Generation X and Generation Z and other modern trends. You are world changers. Yours is, therefore, a higher calling to rule".
The VC told the students that "the degree certificate of the university is awarded to those who have been found worthy both in character and in learning", admonishing them to "be focused, diligent, studious and law-abiding. He said further that "the university's records show that only about five percent of students make First Class while 35 percent, 45 -percent and 15 percent fall into the second class upper, second class lower and other classes respectively". He asked them to work for the class they would like to be in the next three or four years.
The Vice Chancellor later called to the podium for recognition one of the fresh students, Emmanuel Marakwe-Ogu, who he said had developed very good software solutions for the university. The university, he said, is awarding the student a full tuition scholarship for the session.
Also present at the ceremony were the university's Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Kayode Adekeye, the Acting Bursar Mr. Samuel Momodu, Deans of colleges, members of the University Senate and other eminent personalities from across the country.
