With a doctorate degree in Library and Information Science obtained from the University of Uyo in 2004and a degree of Master in Library Studies obtained from the University of Ibadan in 1987, Dr. Adebayo has been in librarianship for about two and a half decades. Before then, he has taught in various primary and secondary schools in the old Oyo state between 1977 and 1987. Prior to that period, Dr. Adebayo was at the then St. Andrew's College of Education, Oyo Town, now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education for close to a decade. He left Oyo for the Federal College of Education (Tech.) Omoku, Rivers State, Nigeria in 1996 as a Principal Librarian and rose to the position of College Librarian in 1999. From 1996 on assumption of duty at the FCE (T) Omoku, Dr. Adebayo had been in acting capacity as the most senior Library staff in that library then. He was in that college also for ten years. In the year, 2005 he withdrew his services from Omoku having been appointed the University Librarian at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria, a position he held till December 2008 before assuming duties as the University Librarian, Redeemer's University in January 2009. Dr. Adebayo's career has witnessed quite a number of achievements and tremendous rapid upward growth due to God's grace and the adventurous spirit which the almighty endowed him with. Within a period spanning about eight years (1991-1996) he occupied the position of head of almost all the operational areas of librarianship. He was head Cataloguing and Classification Unit, Reference Services, Acquisitions, Special Collection and Circulation units between 1991 and 1996. He was exposed to administration in the early period of his career, this made him to serve in more than sixty (60) committees in four tertiary institutions. He has also been involved in preparation of libraries budgets in all the libraries he had worked, since 1991to date. In addition to this are the numerous innovations which he introduced in all the places he had served. Record has it that he prepared the Architect Brief for the construction of a 1000-seating capacity library at the FCE (T), Omoku. The FUTA Library under his headship as University Librarian also received the award for the best University Department in 2007, just a year after assuming duties there and 25 years after FUTA was established. In the area of scholarship, Dr. Adebayo is an academic to the core with more than sixty (60) publications to his credit. These are in reputable local and international journals, chapters in books published by reputable publishers and participated in forty three conferences where he presented more than twenty papers both in Nigeria, East Africa and in Europe. On service to the Community and the Nation, Dr. Adebayo has served on various panels which include among others: - Appointment of Deputy University Librarians in many Universities

- Appointment of Polytechnic Librarian in one Polytechnic
- External Examiner to a Doctoral candidate in Library and Information Science in one University in an Asian country.
- Member, Library Sub Committee for the establishment of one University
- Member Editorial Board of three academic journals in Library Science and
- Fellow of two professional bodies
Dr. Adebayo who was listed in the Who's Who in Nigeria (2003) is happily married with children.
